The Dara Learner!

The assembled group (as per photograph) is our long suffering language class. Long suffering on two counts, namely: our teacher or, as we call him, “The Dara Learner” who has had to remain sane and those in the group who have had to endure our (Jan’s & my) fairly pathetic attempts to learn enough vocabulary and grammar in order to string a (complex) sentence together e.g. this is my purple dog. Alas, we are still in need of further work to impress our Khmer counterparts with choice phrases as: “my hovercraft is full of eels”, “how can you sex an elephant with a pair of marigolds and a smile?” or “this termite has nibbled my thong and thus cannot cover my embarrassment”. Anyway, school is now out and I have achieved one of my personal goals of not missing a lesson (deep down I’m sure Dara would have welcomed some absence. I await his psychologist / psychiatry bills!)

The star studded line up starting, from the left is Suzanna, Noel, Roger, Dara, Holly, Claire, Janice, Nono and Jan (I am missing from the photo (some might say thank goodness!)
